About

I have always loved to write, loved to emerse myself into the research; to find the spark I am looking for and shape the rhythm and imagery that new ideas evoke.
My poems, novellas and short stories have led me on a fascinating journey and to some exciting milestones, including winning first prize in the regional competition ‘Heel Twente Schrijft’. Some of my poems even have been brought to life in theatre productions, adding another dimension to my words.

Alongside writing I am an open knowledge activist: I organize events to inspire others to contribute to projects like Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. In my role as a board member of Wikimedia Netherlands, I work to support and expand these efforts; because if it’s open knowledge, I’m all in!

Peber Paradox

An ochre-coloured mist hung in the air that, the further ahead you looked, gradually turned a shade of moss green. She did not know what kind of chemicals made the air moss green. Most of the time the ochre was the only fog hanging low over her town. She breathed laboriously through her mask, the mechanical filter rattling in her ear. A look at one of the big screens in her vicinity showed her that it was still... Continue reading "Peber Paradox"

A small plot of land

Readingtime: 15-30 minutes The improvised sundial showed that too much time had passed. Tubbernay was only 40 minutes away. Even with everything against him, he would have made it back hours ago. Ricca gathered her stuff. There was no use sitting here, watching more time pass by; she had to make it back to Sketha, she had to make sure no one would come for her. Ricca knew that she would be in danger for not making the... Continue reading "A small plot of land"

Lightning talk

👓~10 minutes Six hundred people were watching this online. He noticed how the numbers fluctuated. He imagined people logging off for lunch or going to the toilet, or perhaps they just had a flaky internet connection. It was fascinating to think of all those people, a small village; sitting behind their screens in their messy living rooms, in their loungewear, or maybe all dolled up wearing stilettos, who knew, and they would all be watching him, soon. He... Continue reading "Lightning talk"

Luckenbooth

In 2010, Luckenbooth was founded to publish the stories of three promising writers. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned as the authors stopped their writing, leaving me with a publishing house with no manuscripts. After a few years, I started to write poetry and gained some success. Some of the work was used in theatre plays, so it was decided to use this momentum to publish a collection of my own poems called Oppervlaktespanning (Surface Tension). I used Luckenbooth to bring the book to life and followed this up with Insular (2018) and De Juliabeweging (The Juliamovement) in 2021.
